Volunteer Clears Mound of Snow Blocking Lassen Volcanic National Park Sign

Snow blocking the entrance sign for Lassen Volcanic National Park was cleared away on Saturday, March 23.

Timelapse video filmed by the park shows the sign emerging from the snow thanks to the diligent efforts of a volunteer.

“Thanks to the hard work of our volunteers, our entrance sign is visible and ready to welcome you! Shorted to 40 seconds, Volunteer-in-Parks Mike dedicated an hour to shoveling hard packed snow,” Lassen Volcanic National Park wrote in posts on social media.

The park commonly receives as much as 30 feet of snow in a winter season and over 12 feet of snow pack remained as of March 7, the park said in a Facebook post. Credit: Lassen Volcanic National Park via Storyful
