The Hero of Maida

“Chef Henry Harris, formerly of Racine, has an excellent reputation, and recently took over this pub dining room. One of his hero dishes is the chicken liver pâté with cornichons and toast. We tend to have grouse there when its in season.”

“If I’m going out for a seriously good dinner with my husband, for a real treat it would have to be The Ledbury. Chef Brett Graham has two Michelin stars, and I think it’s one of the best restaurants in the country – the food is exceptional. I love the scallops.”

“I might drop in here on the way home and pick up some carrots. He’s really good at heritage corn and the tomatoes are incredible: really good quality vegetables, sourced in season from great suppliers. Expect massively fat garlic cloves – the kind of thing you can’t get in the supermarket.”

Jeroboams

“I buy my cheese from Jeroboams on Holland Park avenue, which specialises in wines, spirits and fine cheeses, and has a Royal Warrant – they have Stichelton, an unpasteurised blue cheese which I love at Christmastime, as well as lots of other great regional British blues.”

Queen’s Park Farmers’ Market

“One of the best farmer’s markets in the country. It’s got everything from fermented kimchi and biodynamic vegetables to raw and grass-fed milk, which I buy in bulk, along with sourdough bread and fish. I feel really lucky to have access to the best quality ingredients – it’s something I really care about.”

Parlour Kensal

"Parlour is really family friendly, but still offers great food. Chef Jesse Dunford Wood has twins, and he just gets it.  He's well known for his puddings: there's a riff on the Arctic roll, and his famous "rolos", which are given out at the end of the meal – they're actually incredible homemade salted caramel chocolates, which the children adore. Expect classic British dishes with a twist."

6 Portland Road

“Chef Oli Barker, who used to head up Terroir, has brought us really great local cooking at 6 Portland Road: you can’t beat it. They do a chargrilled rib eye steak off the menu with an anchovy, thyme, garlic, port and chilli butter which melts all over. My husband has it pretty much every time. And it’s got a small but lovely wine list.”

Salusbury Wine

“I buy my milk stout from Salusbury Wine, which is an addiction I have – it’s like Guinness, full of iron. It’s crazily delicious, sweet, and not as bitter as Guinness. I don’t like getting plastered in the week, but I like to have a small glass of this in the evening.”

Pizza East

“At Pizza East, the kids can sit up at the counter and the chefs give them balls of dough to roll out their own pizza. They just absolutely love that. And they do a great avocado and lettuce salad, which my 7-year-old loves, bizarrely.”
