'I wanted to die': Stephanie Davis reveals she drank three bottles of wine a day

Stephanie Davis has opened up about her battle with booze on Tuesday’s Loose Women. The actress, who made a shock return to Hollyoaks last year, admitted she was previously suicidal and drank up to three bottles of wine a day.

The 25-year-old says the darkest period of her life was during the toxic two year on-and-off relationship with model Jeremy McConnell. The pair met while on Celebrity Big Brother, and had son Caben in 2017.

She says she was suicidal during towards the end of their turbulent relationship and ‘wanted to die.’

“At the end I was drinking every day, a lot, probably three bottles of wine in the morning.

“I got told I had trauma and PTSD when I got to rehab. I was having panic attacks and anxiety. I was having night terrors. I was using it to go to sleep.

“I was in so much pain. I had to realise that blocked the pain for a while but then it starts to take and take and take,” Davis told the Loose Women panel.

She revealed that she had attempted suicide, but ultimately it was the love of her infant son Caben, that helped her get clean.

“I didn’t want to live. I wanted to die. I didn’t want to live anymore. I tried to kill myself. But when I thought about doing it again it was scary. I thought it’s not to leave him [her son Caben] without a mum and a dad.

“It wasn’t out of choice. It’s an illness and I was broken. When I said I wanted to go to rehab my mum and auntie cried. They said ‘we’ve got our Steph back'”, she revealed.

Davis posted a heartfelt and deeply personal essay on Instagram on Christmas Eve. Photographed with her young son, she called him ‘her saviour’ and claimed ‘You kept me going when I had nothing left, I owe everything to you!!’

Davis debuted on Hollyoaks as Sinead O’Connor in 2010. In 2015 her contract was terminated as she was deemed ‘unfit to work’ after reportedly turning up to work drunk. In October of last year Davis made a sensational return to the soap.
