Eid-ul-Adha plans for Birmingham Muslims may be scuppered by weather warnings of scattered showers this weekend. Outdoor Eid events have been planned for Small Heath Park. However the Met Office predicts rainy weather on Sunday and Monday.

According to Green Lane Masjid and Community Centre (GLMCC) Eid-ul-Adha will be on Sunday, June 16, as announced by Saudi Arabia moon sightings. However due to weather warnings Birmingham Mosques organising outdoor celebrations have warned they may move indoors if it rains heavily.

The Met Office outlook for Sunday to Tuesday read: 'Sunny spells and scattered showers on Sunday and Monday, these locally heavy, but some places staying dry. Tuesday mainly dry for all. Feeling warm in the sunshine with winds easing.'

The biggest outdoor celebration will be GLMCC's annual Eid in the Park in Small Heath Park on Sunday, June 16. Weather warnings will be confirmed closer to the time but there will be wet weather contingency for indoor prayers at the Masjid.

Five separate congregational prayers will be held indoors due to the large number of people expected. Prayers will take place from 6am on each hour through to 10am.

Additional outdoor events at Birmingham Central Mosque and The Qadria Trust Education Centre in Sparkbrook, have also warned events will be moved indoors if it rains.
