Brexit: Luxembourg 'trap' shows why UK wants out, says US
It is a show of solidarity. The US ambassador has insisted that Boris Johnson's treatment at the hands of Luxembourg's prime minister is a reminder of why the UK wants to leave the European Union. Woody Johnson said that having "built the greatest empire" and "held off the Nazis", the British "didn't need a lecture from anybody on how to run their country". Associate Editor Camilla Tominey has full details of his comments. And here is a reminder of how Xavier Bettel was accused of "disrespecting" Britain in a "trap". As Supreme Court arguments continue today over the suspension of Parliament, Gordon Rayner and Owen Bennett have a recap of what happened yesterday as tempers frayed. Here is the timetable of when a ruling is expected to be made.
Meanwhile, Poland's ambassador to the UK has urged his fellow countrymen to "seriously consider" moving back home after Brexit. James Rothwell has details of a letter addressed to the 800,000 Poles who live and work in the UK. And Matt's cartoon today manages to find an imagined link between no-deal planning and the woman who swam the Channel four times in one go.
