The best TV picks for this weekend: 2-4 July

There's a lot of sport on this weekend amid Wimbledon, the Euros and Formula 1, but there's still room in the schedule for a little something else.

Plenty of cracking films are airing over the next few days, including historical comedy-drama Pride and rom-com Yesterday.

Plus there's the usual Friday night favourites to kick off the weekend with another instalment of Celebrity Gogglebox and The Last Leg.

Friday

Susan Calman's Grand Week By The Sea - 8pm - Channel 5

The comedian ends her tour at Blackpool, one of Britain's most famous seaside spots.

It's eyes down for a spot of bingo while she also reunites with her Strictly Come Dancing partner Kevin Clifton as they take to the floor once more.

Celebrity Gogglebox - 9pm - Channel 4

The famous tell watchers are back for another episode and this time they are feasting their eyes on TV from The Handmaid's Tale to Matt Hancock's apology and subsequent resignation on the news.

As well as regulars like Shaun Ryder and Bez, and Maureen Lipman and Gyles Brandreth, Jonathan Ross will be seen on the programme alongside son Harvey and daughter Honey and her boyfriend Zane.

The Last Leg - 10pm - Channel 4

Live in The Last Leg studio tonight host Adam Hills and his co-stars Josh Widdicombe and Alex Brooker are joined by special guests Aisling Bea and Richard Ayoade.

They take a comedic look at the events of the past week while also counting down to this summer's Tokyo Paralympics.

Saturday

The Post - 8pm - Channel 4

Featuring an all-star cast including Meryl Streep, Tom Hanks and Sarah Paulson, this film set in 1971 tells the real life story of journalists at The Washington Post attempting to publish the Pentagon Papers - classified government documents covering up secrets spanning three decades.

Streep stars as Katharine Graham, the publisher of the Washington Post, while Hanks plays executive editor Ben Bradlee.

Pride - 11pm - BBC Two

Another film based on a true story, Pride follows the group of gay activists who raised money to support families affected by the British miners' strike.

After facing opposition from some parts of the mining community, they find a connection with a small mining village in Wales.

It stars Ben Schnetzer as LGSM founder Mark Ashton while Imelda Staunton and Bill Nighy also feature.

Sunday

Yesterday - 8.15pm - BBC One

In this 2019 rom-com directed by Danny Boyle, Himsesh Patel plays musician Jack Malik who finds himself as the only person who has ever heard of The Beatles after a worldwide blackout.

He passes their work off as his own and gets global attention, with a little help from Ed Sheeran playing himself.

Our Wild Adventures - 8.15pm - BBC Two

BBC wildlife presenters look back in their favourite moments from their adventures in Britain and Ireland.

Chris Packham recalls an exciting trip spotting rare white-tailed eagles in Hampshire while Steve Backshall shares memories of encounters with seahorses.

Harry & William: What Went Wrong? - 9pm - ITV

Many siblings have ups and downs in their relationship, but being princes with the world's attention on you looking for any signs of friction is another matter.

This programme exams the rift between Princes William and Harry, looking back at how the difficult moments of their childhood shaped them and how Harry's relationship with Meghan Markle impacted them too.
