Whoopi Goldberg criticises Aziz Ansari accuser: 'Whatever happened to ‘Stop or I’m going to knock you in your nuts?’'

Whoopi Goldberg has criticised the woman who accused Aziz Ansari of sexual misconduct.

The actor was discussing the babe.net interview in which a Brooklyn photographer recounted her experience of a recent date with Ansari which, she alleges, almost became “sexual assault” back in his apartment. Ansari has since responded to the article expressing his “surprise and concern” to be told the woman had felt violated via text the next day.

“I believe that I was taken advantage of by Aziz,” the woman said, adding that the Master of None star had either failed to notice or ignore her non-verbal discomfort.

Speaking on The View on Tuesday, Goldberg said: “So, the question then, for me, becomes what is a non-verbal cue? It seems to be a bit of an issue. If you’re on a date and he’s not as good as you thought, and you’re uncomfortable and [giving non-verbal cues], does that mean stop, get out, go away?

“Whatever happened to ‘Stop or I’m going to knock you in your nuts?’” she asked as the audience applauded, resoundingly.

Goldberg’s co-host Meghan McCain expressed her concern over “what [an accusation such as this] does to the #MeToo movement” while former prosecutor Sunny Hostin also voiced her opinion, asking: “Is this really sexual assault? I can tell you this isn’t a case I’d bring to trial” noting that the anonymous woman had engaged in consensual sex with the actor.

Goldberg capped the discussion by addressing younger viewers. “You make the decision,” she said. “If you’re looking for that, then it’s quite possible that you could get it if you go. But if you’re not looking for that, chances are you might just want to say, ‘It’s been nice seeing you this evening.’

“The line is very, very clear,” she continued. “If you are not interested in having a physical relationship, then say goodnight after dinner.”
