A devastated widow is suing a millionaire gym owner for £12,000 after he ran into and killed her elderly husband while driving his Lamborghini.

J Gerald Smith, 82, was heading home to have dinner with his wife Eloise in Delray Beach, Florida, when 60-year-old Roger Wittenberns crashed into Smith’s SUV, killing the pensioner.

He was waiting at a stop sign at the time.

Wittenberns was driving his yellow Lamborghini at the time and told police after the incident that he had been drinking with his girlfriend Patty Ann McQuiggin in the afternoon before they left in separate vehicles.

Now Mrs Smith is suing Wittenberns for $15,000 to cover funeral and medical expenses and damages.

She is claiming the gym owner was negligent, drunk and speeding at the time of the accident.

He has yet to be charged over the accident.
