New Wildfires Burn Thousands of Acres Around Parral, Chile

Firefighters continued to tackle wildfires around Parral, in Chile’s Maule region, on February 22.

According to local reports, authorities ordered the evacuation of approximately 3,200 people.

The National Forestry Service, CONAF, said on February 22 there were 45 wildfires reported nationally. Of these, it said, 15 were controlled and 19 were extinguished.
