Watch: Will Mellor says Sarah Everard case 'made him sick'
The former Strictly Come Dancing star is delving into a series of murders in his new show Cops Who Kill.
In one instalment he looks at the case of Ms Everard, who was kidnapped and murdered by former Met Police officer Wayne Couzens in 2021.
Discussing the show on ITV’s Lorraine, he said: “In this series I go the scenes of the crime.
"I went to where Sarah was taken and it left me feeling quite sick to feel, walking down a busy street like she was, she did everything right and she was on the phone to her boyfriend, she’d just been for a bottle of wine with a friend, been to her friend’s house and to feel that she was taken on a busy road like that…
"I know it was a police officer and she probably wouldn’t have got in his car if it wasn’t.”
Mellor, 46, said that it made him more aware of the issue of safety for females.
“To feel vulnerable as a woman, to walk in her footsteps, it did open my eyes to the safety of women and how vulnerable they must feel at times,” he said.
“There were moments that have stayed with me," added the actor.
The actor told the show's host Lorraine Kelly that his programme was not about “cop-bashing”.
“It’s about what we can learn,” he explained.
