Wind and Rain Pummel Oak Island as Storm Isaias Hits North Carolina

Storm Isaias made landfall along the coast of North Carolina on August 3, with Oak Island experiencing strong gusts and rain like much of the region.

The storm arrived in the region as a hurricane around 11.10 pm, according to the National Hurricane Center, “with maximum sustained winds of 85 mph.”

Aaron Smith told Storyful that he captured this footage of the storm about one mile from the coast just as conditions began to grow severe.

The NHC forecast further strong winds and rainfall, along with a risk of tornadoes, for the region and other states along the East Coast on Monday night and through Tuesday. Credit: Aaron Smith via Storyful
