Woman arrested as man taken to hospital after assault inside flat

A woman was arrested after a man was assaulted inside a flat.

Merseyside Police were called to Bridge Road in Litherland at around 2.45am today, Saturday, June 22. It followed a report of a "domestic disturbance" inside a property.

Officers found a man with minor cuts to his head after being assaulted by a woman. The man, in his 40s, was taken to hospital for treatment.

Police arrested a 43-year-old woman from Litherland on suspicion of section 18 assault. A small cordon and a police van were seen next to Polly's Barbers on Bridge Road at around 10am this morning. Forensics were also spotted at the scene.

Detective Inspector Andrew Schofield said: “Domestic abuse can happen to anyone and we have specially trained officers who will listen to victims and support you with sensitivity and compassion. I would ask everyone to look out for family members, friends or neighbours that may be suffering.

"By contacting us, you could be helping someone who is too afraid to help themselves. Everything you tell us is taken extremely seriously and will be investigated thoroughly.
