Many women dread the thought of their hair turning grey as they age.

Yet, one woman has taken to social media to share her journey of embracing her silver locks at the age of 40, and she's become an internet sensation for it. The American Instagram influencer, known by her handle 'Growing Gray Gal', has amassed over 96,000 followers who eagerly await updates on her transition to grey.

Her account features a variety of photos and videos showcasing her previous brunette shade, the greying process, and her current full silver hairstyle.

Two years ago, in 2022, upon reaching her 40th birthday, she made the decision to stop dyeing her hair. She expressed her thoughts in a recent post: "January of 2022 I ditched the dye for good! I had recently turned 40 and thought I would see what was under all that hair dye."

In a viral video, she flaunts her initially grey roots which then evolve into a fully silver bob, leaving behind her brunette ends.

The response has been overwhelming, with the post garnering nearly 6 million likes as followers express their astonishment at how stunning she looks with grey hair. Comments range from one user asking, "Why do you look younger with grey hair? ," to another praising her beauty.

A third supporter stated: "I really am a huge believer that allowing yourself to go grey rather than fighting it 9/10 keeps you looking more youthful."

Even celebrities have joined the conversation, with US supermodel Tyra Banks commenting in awe: "Wow, amazing."

Fellow Instagram users took to her page to express their admiration and draw inspiration from her, with one user stating her pivotal moment: "This video is LITERALLY my inspiration. After 27 years of dying my hair as soon as I had even a couple of millimetres of grey, I saw this reel about 4 days ago and something changed inside me. I COULD HAVE re-dyed this weekend and I CHOSE not to."

In another post, where she transformed from blonde to silver-grey, she was brimming with zest for her more authentic life. She recalled her own journey saying: "2022 was a year of transformation for me. I was reminded today in therapy that when the year started I said I wanted to BE more creative and LIVE more authentically. I said these things not knowing January 24, 2022 would be my last hair dye. This hair journey has allowed me to be creative with myself and with 12 months no dye approaching I am absolutely living more authentically."

There's no doubt that her persuasive personal journey might entice more women to flaunt their natural greys this summer.
