Woman spots mystery lights hovering in the sky over Mersey
A woman spotted strange lights over the Mersey while she was watching the sun go down.
Charlotte, 32, from Birkenhead, was out with her friend on Wednesday evening, April 24, enjoying the sunset over Leasowe Bay, from New Brighton. The two friends were deep in conversation when they spotted the mystery lights over the horizon and began recording what they saw on their phones.
The footage, which Charlotte shared with the ECHO, showed lights hovering in the sky in a triangular formation.

Speaking to the ECHO, Charlotte said: "I wasn't scared when I saw it, but I was shocked. We were having a conversation together, and all of a sudden we saw these lights. It was quite beautiful to see.
"There was a lad in a car nearby and he saw it too - he was just as shocked as we were."
Charlotte said she has seen similar things in the past, including unexplained lights from her back garden and a "black triangle in the sky".
Merseyside has long been considered a UFO hotspot, with some suggesting there might be a UFO "Bermuda Triangle" in the region. In the 1960s, a flurry of sightings made the headlines, with people from Norris Green, Croxteth and Wavertree all claiming to see strange lights in the sky.
Last month, the ECHO published an interactive map showing UFO sightings over Merseyside. In its annual report, the research group UFO Identified documented 395 sightings in the UK in 2023 - a 20% drop from 497 sightings in 2022 and lower than in 2021 (413) and 2020 (484). That adds up to 1,789 sightings in four years.
Information was taken from social media, newspaper reports, and over 50 Freedom of Information requests, as well as from reports made directly to UFO spotter groups around the UK.
According to the report, people in the North West had the best chance of seeing a UFO last year, with 41 sightings across the region, followed by the South East (40) and then the South West (39).
