A group of bungling robbers found themselves arrested after they were told to return to a store when the shopkeeper had more money.

The six people stormed into the e-cigarettes shop in Charleroi, Belgium, in broad daylight and demanded cash from the tills.

However, salesman Didier told the group to come back at the end of the day when he could give them more money after a day of sales.

Unbelievably, the group did exactly as he said and left the shop before retuning by close of play – where police were waiting to arrest them.

Didier told the BBC: ‘It’s like it was a comedy. They’re being called the worst robbers in Belgium.’

He added: ‘I didn’t give them a thing, but said if they came back later I would have 2 or 3,000 euros…

‘When I called the police, they didn’t believe they would come back.’

The thieves returned at 5.30pm – one hour before the vaping shop was due to close, but Didier told them to come back at 6.30pm, when the store closed.

The men returned for a third time and were swiftly arrested by police, who were waiting at the back of the shop.

Five males were arrested, including one minor.
