X Factor 2016: Louis Walsh throws shade at Girls Aloud

Another weekend, another dollop of X Factor drama, and this time it comes courtesy of Louis Walsh and his ongoing sass.

Ooft, remind us to never get on the wrong side of Lou-Lou.

The Irish judge on the hit ITV talent show appeared to use last night’s Girlbands vs. Boybands theme as an excuse to throw some serious shade at Popstars: The Rivals winners, Girls Aloud.

The girl group, comprised of Cheryl, Nadine Coyle, Kimberley Walsh, Nicola Roberts and Sarah Harding were initially managed by Louis after they found fame on the show and ever since Lou has made no secret of his hatred for working with girlbands.

Introducing his act, Four of Diamonds, on last night’s show, Louis said: “These are four of the nicest girls I’ve ever worked with”, leaving fans convinced that he was making a cheeky dig at their predecessors.

As if it wasn’t obvious enough, Simon Cowell later dedicated Sam Lavery’s version of ‘I’ll Stand By You’ to Louis, quipping: “I’m dedicating this one to Louis, it’s a Girls Aloud song.”

Nicole Scherzinger also got in on the 'Girls-Aloud-bashing’ action, telling Saara Aalto, who performed 'Sound of the Underground’: “That song doesn’t really go anywhere vocally.

"You’re bigger than that song.”

Louis previously took a swipe at girl bands when speaking exclusively to Yahoo Celebrity UK last month, admitting that he doesn’t like working with all-female groups.

He said at the time: “I don’t particularly like working with girl bands because it’s very hard to find a girl band that all get on.”

Thank goodness Four of Diamonds appear to be changing his mind, eh?
