X Factor winner Louisa Johnson releases debut solo single this week

Save the date, X Factor fans: Louisa Johnson is set to release her debut solo single this Friday, and will perform the track for the very first time on the X Factor stage this weekend.

Last night the show’s reigning champion tweeted to confirm that her new single, So Good, will be dropping later this week. She wrote: “SO DAMN EXCITED to announce my brand new single ‘So good’ will be out FRIDAY!”

The 18-year-old is releasing the track via Syco Music, but the record label has reportedly censored the explicit lyrics ahead of its release, dropping the F-bomb from the track altogether.

A music insider revealed to The Sun: “The chorus containing the F-word was changed at the request of senior staff at Simon Cowell’s label. Bosses thought a clean version would be more appropriate for the radio.”

Swearing aside, it sounds like the single is set to become our new party anthem, with lyrics that include: “I wasn’t supposed to go out tonight, I should be at home, I got work at 9, shouldn’t be out here doing what I like, but it feels so good, so good” – aka a dilemma that we all face on a weekly basis.

Luckily we don’t have to wait too long to hear the song live, as Louisa also confirmed she will be returning to the X Factor stage as a guest performer on Sunday night’s results show.

She tweeted: “Buzzing to be back on @TheXFactor next Sunday with my new track! #Sogood”

Louisa’s new single – written by Steve Mac (who has penned hits for Selena Gomez and Jess Glynne), Ed Drewett (Little Mix, One Direction) and ChelceeGrimes (Olly Murs) – is the follow up to her collaborative number with Clean Bandit, Tears, which entered the Top 5 on the Official Singles Chart.

Louisa will be the third X Factor winner to appear on this year’s show, following James Arthur’s triumphant comeback and Little Mix’s LGBT-friendly performance – but will she be able to match their recent success?

Tune in to find out as the X Factor continues next Saturday and Sunday night on ITV from 8PM – but if you can’t wait until then, Louisa’s single, So Good, will be released on Friday.
