X Factor winner Matt Terry reveals why Freddy Parker moved out of their shared flat
We were so excited when we heard the news that X Factor 2016 stars, Matt Terry and Freddy Parker, were shacking up together, but less than a month later, Matt’s blonde BFF had moved out of their shared flat.
Now, the X Factor winner has opened up about his friendship with fellow finalist Freddy, insisting that they’re still best mates despite the recent accommodation change.
Matt explained: “He’s my best mate. I understood why he had to go, though; he wants to save money, he wants to go home with his family, so I totally respect that.
“But I’m sure I’ll see him soon, he’s writing his music and I’m writing mine, so as soon as he’s free we’ll definitely catch up.”
In the interview with Reveal magazine, Matt vouched for Freddy as a roommate, saying of their time living together: “We were both clean! We got on really well, which was good.”
Even with the Freddy-shaped whole in his life, the 23-year-old singer laughed off the idea of his new bachelor pad turning into a venue for wild parties, saying: “It’s more of a little safety zone. It’s where I go back to chill out, but I do have friends over.”
Explaining their decision to move in together at the time, a source told The Sun: “The boys get on so well and were both planning on moving into London anyway so decided to move in together.
“Matt’s not shy about telling people. He’s moving in with his best mate so he doesn’t see it as a big deal.”
The pair met on the 2016 series of X Factor, but were forced to deny romance rumours after Matt won the singing contest in December, when eagle-eyed fans thought they spotted the two sharing a smooch amid celebrations.
Matt quickly responded to the speculation, saying: “No I don’t think we kissed but he would have been lucky if I did.
He continued: “It is a complete load of rubbish. He is my little brother, we hit it off since the start, we are best mates. There is no romance, I was just hugging and all of the X Factor contestants were so proud. We are a big family.”
It was good while it lasted, eh boys?
