Zoe Ball 'has a spring in her step' as she enjoys first romance since boyfriend's suicide

Zoe Ball is enjoying her first romance since her boyfriend Billy Yates’ suicide earlier this year, it has been reported.

The Strictly Come Dancing: It Takes Two presenter was spotted enjoying a date in London’s Soho with construction firm boss Michael Reed earlier this week, with friends admitting that she “deserves some happiness”.

Zoe, 47, was left heartbroken when cameraman Billy took his own life in May of this year, with insiders revealing that Michael has put a “spring” back in her step.

Speaking to The Sun, a source explained: “It is great to see Zoe with a spring in her step — smiling and enjoying life again.

“It is early days with Michael but Zoe seems quite taken with him. She left her girlfriends to go and meet him so that shows how keen she is.

“Michael is a charismatic guy and very handsome, so it is not hard to see the attraction. He is also not in showbiz, so hopefully that might make any relationship easier.”

An onlooker said of the new couple’s romantic date in Soho House: “They looked cosy together as if no-one else mattered and like a couple in the early stages of romance.”

It is thought that Zoe and Michael met through mutual friends, with the businessman father to three daughters.

Zoe has two children of her own, 17-year-old Woody and seven-year-old Nelly May, with ex-husband Fatboy Slim, who she split with in 2016 after 18 years together.

The star went on to date Billy before he was found dead in his home on 4 May 2017, with Zoe paying tribute to her “angel” when she returned to work on her BBC Radio 2 show.

Zoe said at the time: “It’s been a bit of a tough time having lost my dear, dear boyfriend Billy. Billy’s dear family, his brilliant friends, my family and I would like to thank you, the listeners, for all your kind thoughts and for reaching out with love, especially many of you who’ve experienced your own loss and grief in similar circumstances.

“Your messages have meant the world to us all, and so I send you love from the bottom of my heart.

“Billy was a truly special chap, and the things he loved to do, he loved to make everybody laugh, he loved to love and he loved to dance.”
