Zooey Deschanel Shares 'Then and Now' Thanksgiving Outfits

The “New Girl” actress posted an adorable throwback photo from a childhood Thanksgiving

Zooey Deschanel is sharing a blast from the past.

The New Girl actress, 43, posted an Instagram carousel on Thursday, with one of the photos featuring her posing with another girl from a childhood Thanksgiving. Both girls are wearing matching Laura Ashley pink striped dresses with white ruffled collars and black shoes.

The second and third photos of the set feature a current Thanksgiving outfit, which included a white ruffled Miu Miu top, black pants and black Nacre brogue shoes from designer Chloe Gosselin. The third photo is a close-up of the low-heeled shoe, which features a bow across the front.

“Thanksgiving outfits then and now. 😘,” Deschanel captioned her post.

Leading up to the November holiday, actress has had a big year.

In August, she and Property Brothers host Jonathan Scott announced their engagement after dating for four years. The couple met while filming an episode of Carpool Karaoke in 2019 with their siblings, including Emily Deschanel and Scott’s twin brother and Property Brothers co-host. Drew.

“Our personalities are so compatible. It’s just that we’re from different worlds," Deschanel told PEOPLE in the couple’s October 2023 cover story. “We identify as nerds, we’ll have you know."

The couple have been open about their “unlikely’ love story, as Scott told PEOPLE.

“When we first started dating, Zooey posted a picture of us together. It might've been the very first time we ever posted anything on social media. And I remember I looked at it and I saw the first comment right below was, ‘Why the hell is she with a Property Brother?!’ I was like, ‘Excuse me—rude!'" Scott, 45, said.

Both Deschanel and Scott were previously married. Deschanel has two children, Elsie, 8, and Charlie, 6, with ex-husband Jacob Pechenik, while Scott was previously married to Kelsy Ully.

Scott co-parents Deschanel’s children, and Deschanel has called their family “very deeply rooted and very blended.”

“They have even more people to love them,” Scott added.

Deschanel also recently shared that Scott is the biggest Elf fan in the family.

Deschanel starred opposite Will Ferrell in the 2003 holiday movie, which celebrated its 20th anniversary this year. In the modern classic, Deschanel plays Jovie, an elf who becomes protagonist Buddy the Elf’s (Ferrell) love interest.

"So many wonderful people worked so hard on putting that movie together," she told PEOPLE. She also pointed out that much of the credit goes to Ferrell, whose performance “is perfection!”
