Five of the best gadget toys for under the tree

Five of the best gadget toys for under the tree

Christmas is only a few weeks away now and while a new iPad or next-generation games console might be top of your kid's list, there are always toys to get excited about too - and they don't all cost hundreds of pounds either.

Here are five of the best tech-heavy toys you could put under the tree this year, from stocking-fillers to main presents. Who knows, you might just find yourself "borrowing" the LEGO after Christmas lunch.

Robo Fishbowl - £15

The perfect solution if you have children who want their own Nemo to look after, without the implicated cost of buying actual tropical fish.

The Robo Fishbowl has four fish and four sharks to collect in its range and the bowl is included in one pack.

The fish are dormant when they are out of water, but as soon as they are popped in, they swim as though they were real fish and will bob to the top and bottom as if they are feeding.

Teksta Robotic Puppy - £60

It doesn't matter if you have a boy or a girl, this Teksta Robotic Puppy is available in both pink and blue colours options.

Known as Tekno in the US, the interactive electronic pet not only barks, but it uses its eyes to communicate and could give a gymnast a run for its money while performing its full backflips.

Teksta comes with an interactive bone and ball, and it will connect wirelessly to an iOS or Android app so it can be controlled and played with remotely.

Furby Boom - £60

The Furby is back in full swing, with the Hasbro electronic colourful toys returning to the market last year following a little break.

This year introduces the next generation Furby, the Furby Boom, which has the ability to connect to a smartphone or iPad app, just like the Teksta puppy.

Once it has been connected, the fluffy friend will offer the chance to hatch virtual furblings in the game, which it will then be able to interact with. To do this, the real-world Furby needs to be cared for though so it will be all hands on deck with this toy.

Lego City Coast Guard Patrol - £60

We aren't sure any Christmas list can be fully complete without a little bit of Lego on there, and top of the Lego chart this year is the City Coast Guard Patrol.

The set contains three angry-looking sharks, six minifigs in all kinds of exciting outfits and Lego to construct not just a patrol boat but also a submarine and a helicopter.

That's a whole lot of Lego fun, and if you are anything like us, it won't just be the kids who enjoy this toy.

V-Tech InnoTab 3S - £100

The V-Tech InnoTab 3S is the company's third-generation tablet for kids and comes with a 5-inch touchscreen, 4GB or storage space and a microSD slot for further expansion.

It has a 2-megapixel camera on the top of the device, which can be rotated to face either front or back and a game, ebook and Kid Connect app are all included.

In addition, the V-Tech InnoTab 3S can connect wirelessly to the V-Tech Learning Lodge, where TV shows, music and additional ebooks can be downloaded.
