'I will be appealing': Naturist fined £315 for naked ramble at beauty spot

A rambler who headed for the hills in nothing but his birthday suit, a baseball cap and a pair of boots has been fined £315.

Nigel Keer, 41, was found guilty of a public order offence and causing distress to a female dogwalker while out and about at Otley Chevin in Leeds - a popular beauty spot.

Keer, of Leeds, had denied the offence.

The court heard the committed naturist had kept a score while on his stroll on October 2 last year to see if he scored a positive or negative reaction. At the time of his arrest by an off-duty police officer the score was 15-0 in his favour.

Magistrates in Leeds heard he carried out the arrest after he saw a woman looking at Keer with 'a disgusted frown'.

Keer maintained he did not mean to cause offence.

'It is not what I wanted. It is not right. I do not believe it is right and I will be appealing,' he told Press Association after the hearing.

'Of course I will carry on being a naturist. I have been a naturist for seven years.'

The hearing was also told Keer had raised money for charity by doing the Three Peaks Challenge naked and attending naked bike rides across the country.
