Why people think a 'death planet' will destroy Earth on September 23rd... and why it won't

This year, a Christian conspiracy theorist has made an alarmingly specific prediction – not only is the world about to end, doomsday is scheduled for September 23.

David Meade, author of ‘Planet X – the 2017 Arrival’, claims that a mysterious planet – ‘Nibiru’ – from the outer solar system will become visible on Earth on that date.

Soon after that, the planet (along with a shower of other debris) will smash into Earth, killing much of the human race in October – except for government employees who will (of course) flee into underground bunkers.

Meade writes, ‘Why do we have over 100 Underground Deep Bunkers throughout the U.S.?

Meade claims to have seen actual photos of the Nibiru system on its fatal approach, taken by an unnamed astronomer in Paris.

Meade said, ‘I’ve seen it and he told me the name of the observatory he has seen it at, and he said he had a secret film of it, which he later sent me.

‘He had taken it with his phone and it is an actual photo of the system, he got out of the observatory at a very high level, and he has shared it with me since.

Meade bases his predictions on an assortment of sources including the Book of Revelation and signs allegedly written in the Pyramids.

He says, ‘‘It is very strange indeed that both the Great Sign of Revelation 12 and the Great Pyramid of Giza both point us to one precise moment in time – September 20 to 23, 2017.

He also builds on decades of conspiracy theories about the supposed ‘hidden planet’ Nibiru – which have been touted for decades online – and figured in predictions of the supposed ‘Mayan apocalypse’ in 2012.

When Caltech scientists announced that there was possibly a hidden ninth planet in the solar system last year, Nibiru fans went into overdrive.

A message appeared on the website of Zecharia Sitchin – a writer who claimed aliens from Nibiru created the human race – despite the fact Sitchin has been dead since 2010.

Why Nibiru isn’t real

So is Nibiru real? Should we be worried?

The short answer is no – the whole thing is absolutely ridiculous, and one can only hope that David Meade has got his excuses ready for the morning of September 24.

Nibiru (or Planet X) was widely predicted to hit our planet in December 2016, and before that in April 2016, and December 2015.

Are you seeing a pattern here?

Prior to that, it was predicted to smash into our planet to coincide with the Mayan apocalypse in 2012 – and before that, Nancy Lieder, an American website writer who claimed to have an alien implant in her brain, predicted it would destroy the world in 2003.

Nibiru does not exist. It has never been seen on any telescope, and no credible scientist has ever confirmed its existence.

NASA has thoroughly debunked the Nibiru myth via its Beyond 2012 page, saying, ‘Nibiru and other stories about wayward planets are an Internet hoax. There is no factual basis for these claims.

‘If Nibiru or Planet X were real and headed for an encounter with the Earth, astronomers would have been tracking it for at least the past decade, and it would be visible by now to the naked eye.’

Aliens who ‘created’ the human race

Soviet-born American writer Zecharia Sitchin first wrote about Nibiru in his hit 1976 book ‘The 12th Planet’ where he claimed it was inhabited by a race of ‘ancient aliens’ – the Annunaki – who had created the human race.

Sitchin’s work remains in print and has a devoted following around the world.

Nigel Watson, author of the UFO Investigations Manual says, ‘Zecharia Sitchin claims that Nibiru collided with a planet called Tiamat that was situated between Mars and Jupiter. The result was the creation of the asteroid belt and planet Earth.’

‘Nibiru is populated by the Anunnaki, an advanced humanoid race, who visited Earth thousands of years to mine gold in Africa. As an outcome of needing workers to carry out these mining operations they used genetics to create Homo Sapiens.’

‘The popularity of these type of ideas makes it certain that every new discovery by our spaceships will be be minutely studied for any evidence of Nibiru, or any other similar body that might be populated by extraterrestrials.’
