A53 railings still looking like this 44 days after mangled in crash

Railings left mangled in a smash which shut the A53 are still waiting to be fixed - more than a month after the collision. Police, firefighters and paramedics had been called to the crash, in Stockton Brook, in May where a car flipped.

During the crash, which took place at around 6.35pm on May 9, the railings near the Bunts Lane junction were damaged. Now Stoke-on-Trent City Council has said repairs will be carried out 'as soon possible'.

The railings sit on a busy stretch of the road and are passed by scores of youngsters on a daily basis heading to Greenways Primary Academy and Endon High School further down the A53. Last month's collision saw an elderly man taken to the Royal Stoke University Hospital.

After being approached by StokeonTrentLive over the railings, a spokesperson for the local authority said: "We are aware of the issues in the area and have scheduled repairs to be carried out as soon as possible, including the installation of a new section."
