Alan Carr: I quit Twitter because of the cancel culture
Alan Carr has said he quit Twitter over "the cancel culture" – because he was fed up of people getting offended by what he posted.
The 45-year-old comedian and Chatty Man star, who has not tweeted since January 2018, feels the social media platform is no longer a place he can speak freely.
Carr told an audience in Leeds on his current National Trinket tour: "It’s the cancel culture. You can’t say anything these days. That’s why I came from Twitter.

"I tweeted that my curry was 25 minutes late and I got people telling me 'Oooo, first world problems.'
"Yeah, it was. I wasn’t like I’d just walked 25 miles for water or posted 'Had a s*** harvest…just slaughtered my firstborn.'"
The chatshow host had previously spoken about how he felt Twitter had lost its community spirit on Good Morning Britain.
He said: "It’s just something I thought that when I started was very fun. It felt like a bit like a community.
"But then you moan, you moan and moan and it all just got like Speaker’s Corner towards the end. Everyone was just moaning.
"And I worked for four years in a call centre so my days to listening people moaning are well over."
Carr recently spoke about how his husband Paul Drayton, 46, “fell off the wagon” and that he was getting the help he needed.
He said: “While I was away filming on location the past few weeks, Paul fell off the wagon and started drinking again. When I arrived back home from Wales, Paul was covered in scratches and bruises from a drinking binge.
“We are now working together to get the help he needs to get better, which is our number one priority right now.”

Carr and Drayton dated for around 10 years before tying the knot in 2018 in singer Adele’s back garden.
The comedian has spoken of Drayton’s previous issues with alcohol before, and once shared that he went teetotal to support his husband after he went to rehab.
