Amal, 39, married George, 56, in 2014, in an opulent ceremony in Venice.

In the actor’s first interview after news of the pregnancy was announced, George said: ‘We are really happy and really excited. It’s going to be an adventure. We’ve sort of embraced it all with arms wide open.’

George previously revealed he and Amal would reduce their workload once the twins arrived.

The couple have spent their relationship travelling to dangerous parts of the world for humanitarian causes but will stop visiting volatile regions now they are parents.
