Porthpean Outdoor has announced it will be launching an American-style camp this summer.

Camp Cornwall will run at Porthpean Outdoor for six consecutive weeks throughout July and August as UK schools break up for the summer holidays.

The American-style camp will offer activity-led holidays as well as aiming to foster independence, belonging, friendship and achievement among eight to 14-year-olds.

Campers will be able to sleep in comfortable ‘glamping style’ bunkhouse tents, cook in the outdoors and take part in activities such as kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, coasteering, surfing, caving, yoga, high ropes, archery and laser tag.

Lee Gamble, director of Porthpean Outdoor said: “Camp Cornwall is the ultimate UK summer camp experience.

“It reimagines and recreates all the joy and wholesome fun of a traditional British youth camp, with the added spark of the more familiar US-style summer camp model.

“All these amazing-shared experiences are offered in a safe space, free from judgement and the pressures and expectations of school life.”

With Camp Cornwall having its very own beach, campers' timetable will be a balance of ocean and land-based activities, giving every consideration to the age and abilities of campers, and it’s not all about adrenaline-fuelled activities.

Chris Riddel activities manager at Camp Cornwall explained: “We recognise that children cannot keep up with 24/7 adventure.

“We therefore factor in a selection of alternative, more gentle activities like yoga, t-shirt design, and our super-popular Eden Project excursion.

“As a dedicated activity centre, operating all year round for young people, we can offer unrivalled standards in safety, activity instruction, and service.”
