Ant McPartlin's ex-wife 'moved to Britain's Got Talent spin-off show to avoid awkward encounters'

At the weekend, Ant McPartlin confirmed in an official statement that he was ending his marriage to his wife of 11 years, Lisa Armstrong, with the Geordie star beaming for the cameras as he returned to work on Britain’s Got Talent just days later.

The split is said to have put BGT bosses in a tricky situation, with Lisa being a make-up artist on the show, however, it has now been reported that Lisa has been moved to the spin-off in a bid to avoid “awkward backstage encounters”.

Instead of working alongside Ant, his co-host Declan Donnelly, and BGT judges Simon Cowell, Alesha Dixon, Amanda Holden, and David Walliams, Lisa will instead help Britain’s Got More Talent presenter Stephen Mulhern.

A source told The Sun: “Lisa has worked on BGT for years and is keen to continue as normal.

“She has friends there and enjoys being part of the show. She’s generally done Stephen’s make-up and helped other people but this year the plan is for her to work exclusively on the spin-off.

“They are all keen to keep things civilised with Ant. It should certainly mean less awkward encounters.”

Auditions for the show kicked off in Blackpool earlier this week, with fans taking to social media to share their joy at how well Ant is doing, with the TV favourite grinning for the camera as he donned a fluffy pink ‘Kiss Me Quick’ cowboy hat.

It was previously reported that Ant plans to offer Lisa half of his £60million fortune in the divorce settlement, with the star allegedly keen to ensure that the chief Strictly Come Dancing make-up artist is “financially and emotionally supported”.

Ant first met Lisa in 1994, when Lisa was in the band Deuce, just five years after Ant and his co-star Dec first found fame in CBBC drama Byker Grove.

The tied the knot in 2006.
