Anthea Turner has reflected on the "sad" events that led to her exit from GMTV in the 90s.

The presenter hosted the programme opposite Eamonn Holmes from 1994 to 1996 but there was highly-publicised friction between them, with Holmes famously calling his co-star 'Princess Tippy Toes' in an interview.

“Revenge is a dish best served sweet. Best of all, I’m still here," Turner, 61, shared in a new interview with The Sun. “I thought it was sad. I just wanted to do the job I enjoyed, but unfortunately the roles have to be labelled.

“I was always asked if I was ambitious and, if I said yes, I was made out to be a ruthless person who would walk over anybody to get where I wanted."

Turner added that her attitude had changed with age and that she hasn't "weighed [herself] down with anything from the past".

“Nobody likes injustice, nobody wants to be misrepresented. It hurts, it really hurts," she went on. “I’d read things about myself and think, ‘I don’t know that person’."

They publicly made-up during an appearance on BBC One NI's The Friday Show in 2009 which was hosted by Holmes, 61, who invited Turner on as a guest.

Holmes said at the time: “We are friends again and it is nice that we are at a stage in our lives when we can finally put the past behind us.

“It is 12 years since we have been on a sofa together and at least 10 years since we have spoken, but whatever happened in the past is in the past and neither of us feels the same way today.”

Holmes and Turner were also reunited on This Morning in 2018 where Holmes jokingly described his former colleague as his "ex".
