'Delays likely' as police on scene of two-car crash in Basildon road

An appeal has been launched by Essex Police following a crash involving two vehicles in Basildon.

Essex Police were called to reports of a crash in Courtauld Road, at the junction with Repton Close, at around 10:20am this morning.

Officers say, at the scene, they discovered a yellow Mercedes A-Class car and a white Mercedes Sprinter van involved in a collision.

The driver of the yellow Mercedes car sustained minor injuries.

The road was temporarily closed as a result.

Both vehicles have now left the scene but officers remain in Courtauld Road to manage and clear the scene.

A spokesman for Essex Police said: "We are appealing for any witnesses or dashcam footage after two vehicles were involved in a collision in Basildon.

"The road was temporarily closed and delays in the area are likely before the scene is cleared.

"We would like to thank drivers for their patience while the scene is made safe for motorists.

"We would like to hear from any drivers in the area who may have scene the collision or either vehicle in the surround area around the time of the incident.

"If you have any information, please contact us quoting incident number 307 on Wednesday, July 3."
