Armed police swarm Dennistoun street as helicopter spotted hovering above

Armed police have descended on a busy main road in the east of the city this morning following an unknown incident.

A concerned eye-witness said at least 16 armed officers could be seen "walking down" Duke Street in Dennistoun at around 9am this morning, July 2. A helicopter is said to also be hovering above.

The reason for their response is currently unknown.

In footage shared with Glasgow Live, three marked police vehicles can be seen parked on Duke Street with armed response officers gathered nearby.

Police Scotland has been approached for comment.
