A local artist invited children to help her paint a mural at a festival in Swindon this weekend.

Sarah Harris designs and paints both outdoor and indoor murals which have been featured across Swindon, as well as in homes and businesses.

But on Saturday, June 29 she welcomed Stratton Festival visitors to help her paint a design of St Margaret's dragon - inspired by Stratton St Margaret Parish Council - which was completed in just an hour and a half.

She said: "I've done some work before for the parish council, so they know me already, and they asked me back in January if I would be able to do a live painting demo on a wooden board at the Festival. And also if I could think of a way to get the locals involved, especially the children.

"I came up with a dragon design and had the children each paint a dragon scale. It was too popular really. All the scales had been painted by about 1.30pm.

"The festival attendees were all very supportive, the kids enjoyed the dragon painting and a lot of the adults came to say hello, because they've seen my work around town."
