Aston Villa defender Diego Carlos is reportedly attracting interest from AC Milan ahead of the summer transfer window.

The 31-year-old is said to be one of the top targets the Milan board have to bolster their defence for next season. Initial talks have not taken place, but Spanish newspaper Dario AS claim that Milan intend to make an approach soon.

Carlos joined Villa from Sevilla in the summer of 2022, but on his second appearance for the club, he snapped his Achilles and missed most of his maiden Premier League campaign. The centre-back has made 24 Premier League appearances this term and 34 in total across all competitions.

Carlos won both man of the match awards in the wins over Arsenal this season, but has been used in rotation with Matty Cash, depending on whether Unai Emery opts to use Ezri Konsa as a central defender or a right-back.

It will be an interesting summer window for Villa, whose business will be impacted by concerns over Profit and Sustainability Rules.

President of football operations Monchi will be tasked with raising funds to continue to balance the books, and Carlos - considering his age and high wage - could be available for transfer if the right offer is tabled.
