Emi Martinez has vowed Aston Villa “will keep fighting” as they target the Champions League.

Unai Emery’s side moved seven points clear of Tottenham Hotspur in fourth place in the Premier League following their 2-2 draw with Chelsea at Villa Park on Saturday night. Spurs have three games in hand, but Villa are in pole position to clinch a top-four finish and qualification for next season’s Champions League.

Martinez was substituted at half-time during the Chelsea clash, having appeared to receive treatment for a hamstring issue during the first half. Villa also lost Youri Tielemans to injury, with Emery providing an update on the pair after the final whistle.

"We will test him tomorrow (Sunday)," Emery said about Martinez. "Even with the injury of Tielemans, we will have to wait for tomorrow. I don’t know exactly. Even if they are not available for one week, two weeks, three weeks, we have to accept it."

Martinez later posted a message on Instagram, making it clear Villa will keep pushing to fulfil their ambitions this season. “We will keep fighting till the end,” he said.
