Ayr United to face Kilmarnock in another high profile pre season clash just days after Celtic friendly

Ayr United are to face bitter rivals Kilmarnock at Somerset Park as part of both clubs' pre-season build up.

The Honest Men will open their new North Stand against Scottish champions Celtic in a glamour friendly just days before they face off against their Ayrshire rivals on Thursday, July 11.

It marks a massive week in the calendar to usher in the new development at Somerset with Scott Brown's side looking to get a flying start to their upcoming Championship campaign. United have already been active in the summer transfer market with Harry Stone, Jay Henderson, Anton Dowds and George Oakley signing on the dotted line.

United are close to concluding deals for at least two more new faces as Brown's new-look squad continues to take shape. And they will be given two big early tests with the Celtic and Kilmarnock double header at the beginning of July. Details of ticket sales will be announced in due course.
