The mother of Baby P will be behind bars for at least another two years after a Parole Board said she remained a danger to the public.

Tracey Connelly had hoped to be freed in time for Christmas but the 35-year-old’s release has been denied over safety concerns.

As a result, the earliest date she will be released will be in 2019.

A spokesman told MailOnline: “We can confirm that a panel of the Parole Board has not directed the release of Tracey Connelly.

“Under current legislation Ms Connelly will be eligible for a further review within two years.”

Connelly was jailed in 2009 for allowing her partner and his brother to torture her 17-month-old son Peter to death in Haringey, north London.

She was released on licence in October 2013 but she was later recalled to HMP Styal in Cheshire 18 months later, after she was accused of selling indecent images of herself.

He had been tortured by Connelly’s partner, Steven Barker, and his paedophile brother, Jason Owen, over an eight-month period.
