Who is Sally Nugent?

Sally Nugent is a BBC journalist from the Wirral who is one of the regular hosts on BBC One morning news show BBC Breakfast.

Before landing her Breakfast role, Nugent was a BBC sports reporter but added filling in as a co-host on Breakfast to her job role from 2012, and at the end of 2021 was named as part of the regular hosting line-up.

She was brought in as a replacement for Minchin, who quit the show after 20 years in 2021.

Nugent then co-hosted alongside Minchin's former co-star Dan Walker until he left too, landing a new job with Channel 5 in 2022.

When is Sally Nugent on BBC Breakfast?

Weekday viewers of BBC Breakfast will be familiar with Nugent as one of the regular hosts of the show.

She can be seen leading the morning's news coverage on the BBC One show from Monday to Wednesday, when Breakfast is on air from 6am to 9.15am.

Nugent originally began her permanent role sitting alongside Walker, but she quickly became the most experienced presenter in her pairing when Walker left in 2022 and since then she has been co-hosting alongside Jon Kay.
