Billy Ray Cyrus files for temporary restraining order against estranged wife

Billy Ray Cyrus has filed for a temporary restraining order against his estranged wife, Firerose.

The country singer has sought to stop Firerose from using his credit cards after she allegedly racked up $96,986 (£77K) in unauthorised charges over a few weeks.

Weeks after filing for divorce, Billy Ray, 62, filed emergency motion at a Tennessee court on Thursday, 13 June, seeking a temporary restraining order to prevent his estranged wife from any "unauthorised" use of his personal and business credit cards and accounts.

The filing claims 37-year-old Firerose, whose real name is Johanna Rose Hodges, outlaid nearly $100K across 37 unauthorised charges on his business account, including $70,665 (£55K) in payments to her lawyers.

"As a result of these fraudulent charges... I am concerned that Ms. Hodges is in possession of other information that she may use to make fraudulent, unauthorized charges to my business and personal credit cards and accounts," Billy Ray wrote in an affidavit.

The filing alleges the payments began on the day Billy Ray applied for a divorce nearly seven months after they were wed.

However Firerose's lawyers have responded that she was merely continuing to live as she had during their marriage.

"To claim Wife has made 37 unauthorized charges is untrue," her legal team wrote in their response filing, which was obtained by People Magazine.

"Throughout the divorce proceedings, the parties are to live as per the status quo during the marriage. Wife was simply living as she has since October 10, 2023, and Husband has no right to cut her off."
