Regimented city grids, psychedelically shaped mines and astonishingly bright rivers are among the jawdropping spectacles included in Overview: A New Perspective – a compendium of aerial photographs of Planet Earth.

New York author Benjamin Grant teamed up with space imagery company DigitalGlobal to bring together an astonishing selection of satellite images, showing our world at its most beautiful and bizarre.

The project was created in a bid to share ‘the overview effect’ – the feeling of awe and wonder experiences by astronauts as they gaze down from space.

Benjamin’s Instagram account shares some of the very best satellite pictures, gaining him an impressive 369,000 followers.
