Bristol Airport warns of multiple road closures affecting travellers

A number of road closures south of the city have prompted Bristol Airport to issue a warning to travellers. Holidaymakers are being told to ensure they leave in plenty of time for their journey if using the A38 northbound.

Part of the A38 Bristol Road is closed near Shipham after a milk tanker overturned and spilt milk across the carriageway this morning. It is closed between the Shipham turn off to the A368 for Bath Road, near the village of Churchill. The closure is expected to remain in place for some time to allow clean up of the carriageway and recovery work.

Further south, the A38 Bristol Road, Winscombe, northbound at A371 in Sidcot Lane, is partially blocked and there are serious delays in the area. Traffic monitoring service Inrix reports that this is due to a traffic problem. It is not clear if this is a separate incident or whether the traffic issues are related to the earlier crash.
