Britain's Got Talent sensation Tom Ball left fans gobsmacked with his dramatic transformation when he made a comeback on the ITV show, looking almost unrecognisable. The 25 year old vocalist, who first captured hearts during the 2022 series with his powerful performance of Sam Smith's hit 'Writing's on the Wall',, secured third place in the competition.

This year, Tom was back on BGT, this time as Noodle the Cat, and viewers couldn't believe their eyes. Fans were quick to comment on how different Tom looked as he stepped onto the stage, with many unable to recognise him. The singer has opened up about the reasons for his new look and the journey to achieving it.

Chatting with the Mirror, Tom expressed his feelings about the public's reaction, saying: "I was incredibly humble. I put a lot of work and effort since January to that time to improve my health. Ultimately, it wasn't a goal of trying to look better or be more appealing in any way."

He continued: "It was purely I want to feel better. I want to be able to stand on stage and not get tired. I wanna be able to sing better.

"I just want to be healthier and subsequently, you know, you end up looking a little bit better, and I had a haircut. It was a really nice moment. It's flattering and so if anyone thought I had a glow up. Thank you very much."

Tom, who lives with type one diabetes, has opened up about his renewed commitment to his health. He shared with us: "I'm back on diet, watching what I'm eating, how much I'm eating and make sure I'm eating the right stuff and going back to the gym. I'm in the gym four times a week at the moment with a PT trying to just ensure that I'm back into full health for the year that we've got ahead, which is a really exciting year."

The artist went on to say: "In terms of my diabetes, it's ongoing. Never ending. It's relentless, obviously, there is no cure. So I've got this forever, so I've got to stay on top of it and if I don't, I become very unwell."

Tom also mentioned that these days he's more likely to be recognised for his stint on TV as Noddle the Cat, rather than for his own audition. He explained: "I think before I lost the weight and had a haircut, I'd get recognised as Tom a lot more," he said.

"Now people go 'Noodle' and I guess because that was when I was on TV looking like this, and it still happens quite a lot, especially at an airport. In airports it's where it happens the most."

After his appearance on Britain's Got Talent, Tom married his long-time love Hannah, whom he met on a dating website in 2017. Hannah was a pillar of support during Tom's Britain's Got Talent experience.

But their plans for a dream honeymoon were interrupted when Simon Cowell rang Tom with an offer to join the America's Got Talent All Stars series. Tom Ball opened up to The Mirror about a pivotal moment when he was shopping for his wedding suit and received the call that would change his plans. He had to make a quick decision to miss his honeymoon in order to appear on America's Got Talent.

Recalling the conversation with his fiancee, Tom shared: "I was like, 'please let me'. She was wonderful and she agreed. We postponed the honeymoon and I went out to America." Despite the initial disappointment, Tom expressed that participating in the show was "a real honour" and an opportunity to "continue to wave the flag for Britain". Fortunately, the couple managed to reschedule their honeymoon for a few months later, which Tom described as "It was wonderful, it really, really, really was,".

In other news, Tom Ball announced that his new single 'The Best Part' was released on Friday 28th March, while fans can look forward to his debut album 'Curtain Call', set to drop on May 24th.
