Singer Bryan Adams has talked about the rumoured affair he’s alleged to have had with the late Princess Diana.

Adams, 58, responded to the claims on Andy Cohen’s Watch What Happens Live: ‘Great friends,’ he branded their relationship, after rumours have circulated since the mid-1980s.

Partaking in the popular segment Plead The Fifth, Cohen probed the Canadian star about it: ‘And she didn’t sneak me in, I would just roll up,’ Adams said of their time spent together, after people began talking about his 1985 love song Diana when he pair became close friends afterwards.

When Cohen, 50, further asked about them, Adams reiterated that it was always platonic and nothing more: ‘She was just… we were good friends.’

It’s one of the rare times the Everything I Do (I Do It For You) singer has spoken publicly about the rumours that have swirled for decades.

Diana married into the royal family in 1981, to Prince Charles, but divorced some 15 years later.

Interestingly, the lyrics of the song Diana spoke about a desired woman of the same name – despite the pair not becoming friends (at least publicly) until several years later.

Lyrics such as ‘Diana, I just can’t get you off of my mind. Diana, why don’t ya leave it all behind? Diana, she’s the queen of all my dreams,’ prompted fans to initially put two and two together and, apparently, make five.

Tragically, Diana died in August of 1999 when he car crashed in Paris as it was escaping paparazzi. The Princess of Wales died at the age of 36, alongside her then 42-year-old partner Dodi Fayed.
