From Road & Track

Jozef Kaban put his name in the history books forever at the age of 26, when he sketched what would become the Bugatti Veyron in 1999. He kept working on VW Group's halo car until it was set for production in 2003.

Perhaps more importantly, he continued his career at Audi as Head of Exterior Design, before landing at Skoda at the age of 35. As Chief of Design at Volkswagen's Czech brand, he made Skodas look like affordable Audis without losing their unique character, coming up with such models as a Superb Sportline in Dragon Skin Gold Metallic, and Skoda's first SUV.

Meanwhile, BMW's design team has been suffering badly. The automaker lost Head of Design Karim Habib, as well as Mini chief designer Anders Warming (who fled to the recently-relaunched Borgward), i-brand designer Benoit Jacob (off to Future Mobility Corp), and senior designer Richard Kim (who now works at Faraday Future). So as of this week, Kaban is now BMW's new Head of Design.

After poaching the main man from Skoda, BMW has also promoted Domagoj Dukec to Head of Design for the i and M sub-brands. Kaban and Dukec both report to Adrian van Hooydonk, who remains BMW's Design Director.
