Burger King and chicken shop among latest food hygiene ratings in Reading

New food hygiene ratings have been given to 10 Reading businesses, according to the Food Standards Agency's website.

Among the establishments rated were eight restaurants, cafes, and canteens, with seven receiving the top rating of 5.

Burger King Reading at 8-9 St Marys Butts and DeNata at 377 Oxford Road were rated on April 23 and April 21 respectively, both gaining top scores.

Kyaneez on Basingstoke Road, The Meme's Kitchen, Dough Bros, Nando's on Friar Street, and the ICMA Centre Cafe Bar at the University Of Reading, were all awarded the highest accolade of 5, affirming good hygiene practices.

However, Vegivores on Church Street, Caversham, received a lesser score of 3 on March 27.

A pub, bar, or nightclub, The Hope Tap at 99-102 Friar Street, was also evaluated and awarded the top score of 5.

However, Chicken Base, a takeaway establishment on Wokingham Road, did not meet the same high standards, scoring a low rating of 1.

This shows that there is room for improvement in meeting the hygiene requirements set by the Food Standards Agency.

The diverse ratings illustrate a significant disparity in food quality and cleanliness among Reading's eateries.

Inspections by the Food Standards Agency give eateries a score between zero and five, indicating what extent of improvement is needed in food hygiene practices.

0 – urgent improvement is necessary

1 – major improvement is necessary

2 – improvement is necessary

3 – business is generally satisfactory

4 – business is good on assessment

5 – business is seen as very good
