Burglars cut shutters to steal cash and booze from Leicestershire Co-Op

A Leicestershire supermarket was raided of cash and alcohol this week. Investigations are ongoing after three men were seen fleeing the scene in a car.

The burglary happened at the Co-Op branch in Moira’s Shortheath Road, near Ashby at around 2.20am on Thursday (May 23). Officers say three men forced their way into the branch after cutting open the store’s shutters.

Inside, a “small quantity” of cash was taken from the Co-Op by the men. Police said that a number of bottles of alcohol were also taken during the raid.

The three men were then seen fleeing the scene in what police said was a dark coloured car. Police say “active enquiries” into the burglary are ongoing, with officers appealing for the public’s help.
