A spokeswoman for Anglia Water said: "We’ve had two bursts – one on Gudgeon Road and one on The Rosery.

"Although these locations are close, the team doesn’t think they’re connected.

"Burst mains become more common when the weather changes, as it can cause ground movement, so it’s possible that the heatwave we’re having is what’s caused both bursts."

“We’re really sorry that a small number of customers in Mulbarton may have had low water pressure or no water at all.

“Our teams are still working hard nearby to finish repairing both pipes, and we’ve been using tankers to keep customers’ taps running where possible.

"In order to keep our people and other road users safe while we work, we have needed to close The Rosery, and part of Long Lane, with fully signposted diversions in both places.

"Thanks to our customers in Mulbarton for their patience while we get things back to normal.”
