WE are being urged to be careful following two landslips on the Isle of Wight – in Yaverland and Shanklin.

The first, at Yaverland, Islander Pauline Marsh has alerted the County Press to.

SCROLL DOWN for video of the aftermath in Shanklin.

She said she witnessed a small landslip at the Redcliff end, and had to run away from it, as she was just feet away when the cliff face started to collapse.

“It happened very fast,” said Pauline.

“The tide is in, so I was closer to the cliff than I would have liked.

“I heard a small rumble, then I saw a lot of dust and falling cliff.

“It happened so fast, I just ran.”

Pauline is urging us to be careful following such a close shave.

A second collapse, reported by Stefan Wells, has happened at Horse Ledge in Shanklin.

Stefan says he spotted it yesterday afternoon (Saturday) at low tide.

"It was around five-foot high spoil and pretty wide," said Stefan.

Back in October of last year, two cliff collapses were reported at Yaverland, and this latest one has happened between them.

The first, on October 4, saw tonnes of rocks and debris come crashing down at Redcliff, and Pauline was sitting on the beach when it happened.

She told the County Press she was near the white cliffs when she heard a 'large rumble' and then saw the fall.

The second incident, weeks later, saw a wall of one of the Isle of Wight's historic batteries come crashing onto the beach below.

The wall came tumbling down the cliffs at Yaverland when a landslip occurred over the weekend.
