Channing Tatum Linked To Second Ghostbusters

After announcing its all-female cast for a Ghostbusters reboot, Sony is expanding the franchise further with another film which could star Channing Tatum.

A production company called Ghost Corps is being created to move the popular brand into television and merchandising, Deadline reports.

The collective will be headed by original Ghostbusters director Ivan Reitman and one of the original stars, Dan Aykroyd.

"We want to expand the Ghostbusters universe in ways that will include different films, TV shows, merchandise, all things that are part of modern filmed entertainment," Reitman told Deadline.

Paul Feig is directing Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones in the first new film which is due for release in July 2016.

The second film will be produced and directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, the brothers behind Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

It will be written by Iron Man 3 writer Drew Pearce and Tatum and his partners Reid Carolin and Peter Kiernan will also produce.

Deadline states that if everything goes to plan, Tatum would also star in the movie, which will hopefully begin shooting next year and open in 2017.

Reitman said the second film has a "wonderful idea" which will build on the reboot.

"Drew will start writing and the hope is to be ready for the Russo Brothers' next window next summer to shoot, with the movie coming out the following year. It’s just the beginning of what I hope will be a lot of wonderful movies," said Reitman.
