A new Chinese restaurant is set to open up in the St Werburghs area of Bristol. The restaurant would be located at 105-107B Mina Road and would offer dim sum dishes throughout the day.

The restaurant, listed as Ah-Ma’s Dim Sum Restaurant & Wine Bar, would be open from 8.30am until 11pm on Mondays through to Saturdays. On Sunday, the opening times have been listed as 8.30am to 10pm.

The “Chinese bakery, eatery and wine bar” would serve Chinese dim sum (a range of small dishes from South China), home-baked foods and coffee for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The food and drinks will also be available as a takeaway option.

During the evenings, a variety of dim sum small plates will be available alongside a selection of wine, beer and cider. The application for a Premises Licence notes that the restaurant wants to sell alcohol for consumption both on and off the premises, as well as by way of delivery. It has also applied for permission to sell alcohol for all of its opening hours.

The application said: “This application is for a Chinese bakery, eatery and wine bar. The establishment will serve breakfast, lunch and dinner offering freshly baked Chinese dim sum, home baked food and coffee which will also be available to takeaway.

“A variety of dim sum small plates will be available during the evening along with a selection of wine, beer and cider. The application seeks to licence the premises to sell a limited range of alcohol for consumption on and off the premises and by way of delivery.”

The application was submitted to Bristol City Council by Luke Harney and is dated as April 29. Residents and businesses who wish to comment on the licensing application can contact the council with their views before the deadline of Monday, May 27.

An earlier version of this story said the restaurant would be on the site of the existing convenience store in Mina Road. That is not the case and we are happy to make that clear.
