Chris Brown could be jailed for buying daughter a monkey

Chris Brown is in hot water over the wild present he bought his daughter last month.

Brown, 28, caused a stir when he posted a video on Instagram showing fans the ‘present’ he’d bought his 3-year-old daughter, Royalty: a baby monkey in a nappy.

The responses were mixed, as some fans praised him for the ‘sweet’ gesture, while others slammed him for the cruel and irresponsible gift that could also endanger his child.

Now, it’s believed that authorities have seized the mammal after people complained to the California Dept. of Fish and Widlife who then began an investigation, according to TMZ.

After the ownership of the Capuchin monkey was looked into, it was discovered that Brown didn’t have a permit and was forced to hand it over.

Law enforcement said that after a series of complaints about the housing of the monkey they obtained a warrant to search Brown’s home, but the singer gave up the monkey beforehand voluntarily.

Apparently, if Brown is found guilty under the charge of owning the exotic animal without the correct permits, he could face up to six months in prison.

His lawyer, Mark Greagos, wasn’t amused by the case, blasting it as a waste of time.

‘As I leave my office in Downtown L.A. and walk past people sleeping on the street on my way to defend people charged by the City Attorney with selling medical marijuana … now spending taxpayer money on investigating monkey business, this completes the circle on his absurdity.’

Word is that the petite primate named Kiki is being well looked after. In truth, the whole story is bananas.
